Story

A chef once tried to change the world with his cooking before risking his life to hide a secret in a recipe…
Only when the final dish—the last recipe—is recreated will we know the truth about the epic love that spanned the 70 years separating these two gifted chefs.
Mitsuru Sasaki (Kazunari Ninomiya) is a formerly renowned chef who now capitalizes on his gift—remembering every flavor he’s ever tasted—to earn a living by recreating memorable dishes as last meals. But all his earnings go to paying off the debt from his failed restaurant. One day, he’s contacted by Qingming Yang, a titan in the culinary world in China. Mitsuru is flown to Beijing, where Yang asks him to search for a recipe that’s gone missing—the “Great Japanese Imperial Feast”, a 112-dish course meal commissioned by the Japanese military in the 1930’s as a historic feast to honor the Emperor on his visit to Manchukuo.
Though skeptical and reluctant, Mitsuru agrees to the job after a lucrative offer, and begins tracing the footsteps of Naotaro Yamagata, the former chef of the Emperor who was tasked with creating this recipe. As he meets one person after another who knew Naotaro, he arrives at an unexpected truth about both the chef and his recipe. Where is the recipe now? What was the conspiracy hidden behind it? And what was the secret that Naotaro had risked his life to hide in the recipe?
Only when the final dish—the last recipe—is recreated will we know the truth about the epic love that spanned the 70 years separating these two gifted chefs.
