Introduction

“Bolt From the Blue”, a novel by Gekidan-Hitori following his million-seller “Flowers in the Shadows”, strikes a deep chord in the hearts of troubled and lost souls and is a poignant story that will make you laugh and cry!!
Directed by Gekidan-Hitori, the cast includes Yo Oizumi, who has recently starred in a string of much-talked-about films, and Ko Shibasaki, one of Japan’s most talented actresses, as well as veteran actors such as Takashi Sasano and Morio Kazama!
Being inspired by the novel, Mr. Children, one of Japan’s favorite bands, wrote its theme song. The film received kudos-“I can’t believe it’s a directorial debut!”-at the monitor’s preview at which 90 percent of the viewers were moved to tears and none said it was no good. Story

Thirty-nine years old and a struggling magician (Yo Oizumi).
He was abandoned by his mother and has broken off all relations with his father.
Then one day, he receives word on his father’s death.

When he comes to, he has slipped back in time.
He finds himself in Asakusa 40 years ago.
In this town that offers all imaginable sorts of entertainment,
he meets his father (Gekidan-Hitori) and mother (Ko Shibasaki) in their younger days.
He becomes a popular magician with his spoon-bending trick
and in an unexpected turn of events, forms a duo with his father.
And his mother’s pregnancy.
The baby due 10 months later is......me.
The secret about his birth is gradually revealed.
And what awaits him in the end--?!
