Story

Ami Ninomiya, a high diver, and Keisuke Yamato, a swimmer, are both students of the same high school, meet for the first time accidentally in campus. “Murderer!” is the first word cast by Ami at Keisuke, but the terrible word heralds the everlasting friendship between the two young souls. Their families run Japanese-style confectionery stores, a rival to each other, for generations.
In their swimming club, excellent athletes are training every day, aiming to win the All-Japan Championship. They include Ogata, the ace diver and Keisuke’s best friend, and Kaori, the national women’s high diving championship holder. They spend days in tears and laughter, encouraging each other, competing with each other.
Ami and Keisuke are hostile to each other at first, but their passion for swimming gradually melts their cold hearts, and they find each other attractive. But Ami is engaged to an older swimmer, Hiroki Nakanishi, the all-Japan freestyle champion, who is a hero to Keisuke. The two boys consider each other a rival in love.
One day, Ami is about to get drowned in a marine accident. Keisuke and Nakanishi hurry to her rescue, and Nakanishi is the first to reach her. Keisuke tastes defeat and frustration.
The All-Japan Championship Competition is held. Keisuke and Nakanishi are expected to swim for the championship and also for Ami’s love. The race is about to start, but Nakanishi does not appear. Instead, a report comes: Nakanishi gets seriously injured in a traffic accident. His future as an athlete might be shuttered. Ami nurses him night and day. Keisuke has lost his rival in love and sports. Then blazing summer comes to give answers to the problems of the youth…
