Theatrical adaptation of the 1st “Manga Award” winner “GAKU”!
The “Book Store Award” which is selected only by book store staffs has given light to numerous masterpiece novels (e.g., "Confessions", “Golden Slumber”, and “Tokyo Tower”). In 2008, “Manga Award” which is the comic book version of “Book Store Award” was established, and “GAKU” won the very first prize. The story which moved book store staffs across the nation is back again in cinemas!
The main role is a mountain rescue volunteer, Sanpo Shimazaki. Embracing all that comes his way just like the mountains, Sanpo shows the wonderfulness of the mountains with his radiant character. “Peak: The Rescuers” is a touching drama about Sanpo, his rescue team colleagues, and the mountain climbers.

Mountains show various kinds of landscapes throughout the year. Beautiful green in summer, the turn of leaves in fall, and the snow in winter... Fabulous lakes between the valley, sight from the mountain top... The beautiful visual of the mountains decorate the strong human drama of “Peak: The Rescuers”.
His name is Sanpo SHIMAZAKI (Shun OGURI). Having conquered mountain peaks throughout the world, he knows all there is to know of the pleasure, severity, and beauty of mountains. He uses this knowledge as a mountain rescue volunteer.
Sanpo has a heartfelt desire to share the magnificence of mountains with as many people as possible, so is never critical of those that require rescue, even when their mishap is the result of their own negligence. And even if an individual in need of rescue dies before they can be saved, this remarkable man speaks words of comfort to their lifeless body, saying "Way to hang in there."
Kumi SHIINA (Masami NAGASAWA) is newly assigned to the Northern Police Headquarters Mountain Rescue Squad, and shows up in the mountains that are home to Sanpo. She is a rookie recruit who receives rigorous training in the Mountain Rescue Squad, under the guidance of both Commanding Officer Noda (Kuranosuke SASAKI) and fellow member Sanpo. Kumi makes steady progress as a rescuer.
However, due to her lack of experience and the overwhelming forces of the natural environment, she is unable to save lives during successive actual rescue attempts. Kumi is stricken with a crisis of confidence. But just then, a ferocious snowstorm strikes the wintry mountains, and multiple mishaps occur. Kumi heads off to attempt rescue, but an unimaginable menace awaits her in the mountain snow!
